Tub-to-Walk-In Shower Conversion / Aging-in-Place Design
A dated tub enclosure gives way to a low-entry walk-in shower, with visible grab bars, handheld controls, built-in niches, and a finished light veined wall surface.
This bathroom update replaces a tub alcove with a walk-in shower. The photos trace the work from the original tub area through an open-wall stage and installation to the finished enclosure. In the completed views, a low-entry base, grab bars, handheld shower controls, recessed storage, and a light veined wall finish are visible.
Installation completed by DS High End as a subcontractor for another company.
The original tub alcove
The first view shows the bathroom’s existing tub-and-shower enclosure between two doors, with wood-look flooring continuing into the room. It establishes the starting point for the conversion: a conventional tub alcove that will become a walk-in shower. The image documents the room as seen; it does not establish hidden conditions behind the enclosure or beneath the floor.

Opening the enclosure
A later construction photo shows the bathing area opened up, with wall framing exposed and the tub area removed. A shower base is present at the bottom of the alcove, while protective coverings and tools remain in view. Another image records a dark, unfinished wall surface with several visible cutouts. These photographs show work in progress, but do not confirm concealed waterproofing, substrate, or the exact wall-system material.

Building out the shower
The next set of views shows the enclosure taking shape with a pale, visibly veined wall finish, a low-entry shower base, and installed shower hardware. Recessed wall niches provide storage; a handheld shower and multiple grab bars are visible in the detailed views. The images support describing these observable features, but they do not establish product brands, technical specifications, or accessibility-code compliance.

A finished walk-in shower
The final photos present the completed shower from close and room-wide angles. The low-entry opening, clear glass enclosure, light veined wall surface, recessed niches, handheld control, and grab bars can be seen. Together, these details show the finished tub-to-walk-in conversion and its focus on easier entry and practical in-shower support, without making claims about performance or hidden construction.
